The Prairie Sky Concert is on the Gate House Lawn at Allerton Park and Retreat Center – 515 Old Timber Road, Monticello, IL 61856.
How do I buy tickets?
Purchase Concert tickets and make camping reservations here. ONLINE TICKET SALES END THURSDAY, 9/19 at MIDNIGHT. TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE GATE (Cash preferred, credit card accepted.) Please allow extra time if you need to purchase tickets at the gate.
Do I need to print out my ticket?
Please print out your Eventbrite ticket(s) or have them pulled up on your smartphone.
Where do I park?
Staff and volunteers will direct you to the appropriate lot. The walk from the parking lots to the Gate House Lawn may be up to ~200 yards. If you need handicapped or accessible parking, let the parking attendant know. There will be a shuttle available.
Is there assigned seating?
Seating is first come, first serve — bring your own chairs and blankets! Please leave any view-blocking umbrellas or chairs with built-in head coverings at home.
I came to the two day Prairie Sky Music Festival in the past — is this concert the same event?
It’s similar, but not the same. We are always evaluating our course of action and considering public feedback. During that evaluation we decided that a two day festival wasn’t practical or sustainable at this time. We did find success when we had a nationally-known act (Rusted Root) in 2016, which was an evening event. We are going back to that model this year and will reevaluate next year based on our results.
What if it rains or storms?
This is a rain or shine event! Follow our Facebook page for announcements. Performances may be delayed, but we will do everything we can to ensure the show goes on (eventually!). In case of poor weather, we will do our best to direct you to shelter. Your best bet may be heading back to your vehicle!
Can I bring in my own food?
There will be some great food and drink vendors on-site, and you may also bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. (No outside alcohol, please.)
Do I need to bring cash?
There is no ATM on-site. Credit cards can be used to purchase tickets at the gate, for some merchandise, and all drink sales. Although many food and merchandise vendors will accept credit cards, we cannot guarantee that all will.
Will there be other items for sale?
Besides food and drinks, there will be artists and vendors, and some Allerton merchandise.
Can I bring my children?
Please do! All ages are welcome, and ages 12 and under are free! We try hard to facilitate and encourage a family-friendly atmosphere.
I have something to sell or an activity to offer. Can I be a vendor?
Thanks for your interest! Email Ashley at anowen2@illinois.edu
Can I take pictures?
Yes, please do – and make sure to tag #AllertonPrairieSky!
Can I bring my four-legged friend?
Pets are allowed, but must be on a leash. If your pet is threatening or unleashed, you will be asked to leave. Please pick-up all droppings immediately and dispose of them properly. Pets are not allowed in the campground.
How are the mosquitoes?
We spray the lawns and the surrounding wood edges with an organic blend before concerts. It effectively knocks the mosquitoes down. Of course we recommend that you come prepared with bug deterrent just in case you are bothered.
What overnight accommodations are available?
Concert-goers will have the rare chance to tent camp in the Meadow!
Anything else I should be aware of?
–No drugs, smoking, fireworks, weapons, glass containers, or outside alcohol
–No open campfires or grills permitted. Small camp stoves are permitted within the campground. View campground rules here.
–Keep yourself safe! Allerton Park & Retreat Center and the University of Illinois are not responsible for any injury caused by your own neglect.
