Concert Series FAQs

Q: Where are the Concerts held?
A: All Concerts will be on the Gatehouse Lawn at Allerton Park and Retreat Center – 515 Old Timber Road, Monticello, IL 61856.

Q: Do I need tickets?
A: Unless otherwise stated on the individual event, no ticket is required. A suggested donation of $10/family per show can be made at the gate.

Q: Where do I park?

A: Staff and volunteers will direct you to the appropriate lot, which could be up to a quarter mile away. Learn more here.

Q: Is there assigned seating?
A: Seating is first come, first serve — bring your own chairs and blankets! Please leave any view-blocking umbrellas or chairs with built-in head coverings at home.

Q: What if it rains or storms?
A: Follow our Facebook page for announcements. Performances may be delayed, but we will do everything we can to ensure the show goes on (eventually!). In case of poor weather, we will do our best to direct you to shelter. Your best bet may be heading back to your vehicle!

Q: Can I bring in my own food and drinks?
A: You are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks.. There will be a bar (cash/credit) and food vendors on-site for each concert. Visit each Concert’s event page to learn more about food options.

Q: Do I need to bring cash?
A: There is no ATM on-site. Credit cards can be used to purchase drinks. Although many food vendors will accept credit cards, we cannot guarantee that all will.

Q: Will there be other items for sale?
A: Select concerts will have artists and vendors on-site. Visit each Concert’s event page to learn more.

Q: I have something to sell or an activity to offer. Can I be a vendor?
A: Thanks for your interest! Email Olivia at owarren@illinois.edu.

Q: Can I bring my children?
A: Please do! All ages are welcome.

Q: Can I bring my four-legged friend?
A: Pets are allowed, but must be on a leash. Please pick-up all droppings immediately and dispose of them properly.

Q: How are the mosquitoes?
A: We spray the lawns and the surrounding wood edges with an organic blend before concerts. It effectively knocks the mosquitoes down. Of course we recommend that you come prepared with bug deterrent just in case you are bothered.

Q: Are overnight accommodations available?
A: Lodging is sometimes available in the Mansion or guesthouses on the property. Learn more on the individual Concert event pages.

Q: Anything else I should be aware of?
A: Please NO: drugs, smoking, fireworks, weapons, glass containers, outside alcohol, campfires, or grills. Keep yourself safe! Allerton Park & Retreat Center and the University of Illinois are not responsible for any injury caused by your own neglect.
