Allerton’s Master Plan (2015) identified the Visitor Center Complex as an area with many underutilized facilities and unique opportunities. Transforming this core area of the Park into an Artisan Village will be one of our highest priorities over the next decade. Historic buildings will be updated to provide multipurpose programming and workshop space, studios for our Artists and Naturalists In Residence, and opportunities for historical discovery. Inspired by nature, the arts, and sustainability, this multi-generational experience will work toward attracting a more diverse audience, creating opportunities for education and personal interaction, and understanding of the legacy of Robert and John Gregg Allerton.
