Jun 3-7 Wildlife Expedition (ADVENTURERS SOLD OUT)
Allerton is home to so many animals! Have you seen turkey vultures circling overhead? Or heard the frogs croaking by the Reflecting Pond? Our goal this week is to find as many native animals as we can (or at least find signs of them). We’ll make animal track molds to take home, then go out in search of the animals that would make them outside.
June 10-14 Art Adventure
The art and nature found at Allerton is inspiring for artists of any age. Projects this week will take advantage of some of the natural materials available and include jewelry-making, weaving, collage, and printmaking.
June 17-21 Around the World in 5 Days
Welcome to the wonderful world of travel! Like Robert Allerton, campers will experience destinations from around the globe. Lucky for us, we don’t have to leave Illinois to do it. Remember your passport – you’re going to need it!
June 24-28 Fort Week (ACORNS, ADVENTURERS SOLD OUT)
A classic at Allerton! Fort Week is a camper favorite and for good reason. Campers use natural materials to do what kids do best – make their own adult-free space! Once built, they have a blast using it to enjoy snack time, play games, or just have some laughs!
Jul 8-12 Surviving Outdoors (ADVENTURERS SOLD OUT)
Think you could survive on your own like Bear Grylls? We’ll learn how this week! Campers will learn skills such as how to navigate outdoors (without GPS), read the weather, and prepare your own campsite. Be prepared to welcome a survival expert back home!
Jul 15-19 Green Thumbs
We get our hands in the dirt this week to discover just how complex growing plants can be. Soil, pollinators, compost… there is so much to discover! We will watch a bean plant attempt a maze, create a wormery, and of course, campers will come home with their own planted seeds, ready to germinate!
Jul 22-26 Water Week (ADVENTURERS SOLD OUT)
There are so many different ways to experience water at Allerton – the Sangamon River, the Reflecting Pond, a water balloon to catch… This week we celebrate water! It brings wildlife diversity to the Park and brings fun to camp. We will be playing games, learning, and tracking down every sprinkler we can find!
Jul 29 – Aug 2 Summer Olympics (ADVENTURERS SOLD OUT)
Campers, ready your flag! This week will be filled with exciting games and activities. Whether your camper is a natural competitor or a natural spectator, all will have fun at this active week of camp that includes silly copies of some favorite Olympic events!
