Where is the Park?
Allerton Park & Retreat Center is located approximately 3.5 miles southwest of Monticello, IL in Piatt County. Plug in 515 Old Timber Road, Monticello, IL into your favorite GPS app and it will take you to the Main Parking Lot!
When are you open?
The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The McCraw Family Visitor Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Is the Park accessible?
Because of the historic nature of the property, not all areas of Allerton are accessible. Please contact us at 217-333-3287 or allertoninfo@illinois.edu if you need assistance planning your visit. The Park has power chairs for those with limited mobility. Learn more.
Can I stay in the Mansion?
What amenities are included in the hotel rooms?
All of our hotel rooms have TV’s with wifi available. Bathrooms include towels, hair dryer, soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Coffee is in the hotel rooms of our guest houses, including the Gate House, House in the Woods, Evergreen Lodge, and Residence. Communal coffee is available in the Solarium of the Mansion for our overnight guests. Mini-fridges are currently available upon request for medical needs. See photos of our rooms.
Is there anywhere to eat?
The Greenhouse Café is open from early April through the first Sunday of November.
Do you have a gift shop?
Yes! It is located in the McCraw Family Visitor Center and is open from Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What is The Farms: An Allerton Folks School, and how can I find out more?
As the first folk school in Illinois, The Farms offers classes, workshops, retreats, and gatherings focusing on art, outdoor education, science, storytelling, and wellness. All courses value hands-on, experiential teaching and learning, and are facilitated by and for the members of the community. Click here for more information and current courses.

Can I spread ashes of a loved one (including pets) at the park?
University of Illinois policy does not allow this except in rare cases in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Read the full policy.
