The Farms: Colored Pencil I

Skill Level: Beginner

Exercise your artistic side by learning how to use colored pencils at Colored Pencil I from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays from Jan. 29 through Feb. 19 (*make-up day is Feb. 26) in The Studio.

This art class will teach you new techniques and skills to help make your art shine. Each session will focus on a new topic:

Jan. 29: How colored pencils are different from drawing pencils, how to draw what you see, layering color, simple objects
Feb. 5: Burnishing, blending, drawing koi
Feb. 12: Landscape techniques
Feb. 19: Drawing glass and reflective surfaces

$200/person, $155/person without supplies**. Register here by Jan. 15. All sales are final.

* This make-up day will be used if a session is cancelled due to bad weather.

** The following supplies will be needed: A mixed media sketch book (spiral bound preferred), see through plastic ruler (any color), kneaded eraser, No. 2 pencil, Prismacolor (recommended) colored pencils (more than 12 colors), small plastic hand-held pencil sharpener.

About the instructor

Sally Walsh is a retired art teacher from Richland Community College in Decatur. She has more than 30 years of teaching experience and has led previous art classes at Allerton.
