Josè Gobbo Trio featuring Raphael Ferreira
Join us for a night of jazz when the Josè Gobbo Trio featuring Raphael Ferreira will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. April 13 in the Music Barn. Gobbo is an established jazz guitarist and former Allerton In-Resident participant, while Ferreira is a talented saxophonist from Brazil who is visiting the University of Illinois to participate in a jazz forum at the School of Music.
A cash bar will be available.
This event is in collaboration with the Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies.

About Raphael Ferreira
Raphael Ferreira is a Brazilian saxophonist, composer and arranger. Between projects as a soloist or co-leader, he has released nine albums. As an instrumentalist, Ferreira is part of the Latin Grammy Award-winning Hermeto Pascoal Big Band. In collaborations or as a sideman, he has worked with Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Filó Machado, Nelson Sargento, Arthur Verocai, Raul de Souza, Phil DeGreg, Letieres Leite and Rosa Passos, having toured South and North Americas, Europe and Morocco.
Ferreira earned Masters (2009) and Doctorate (2016) degrees in music at State University of Campinas/Brazil (Unicamp), and holds a Bachelor of Music degree by University of São Paulo/Brazil (USP). He attended the International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at Banff Centre (Canada) in 2008, and between 2019/2020 was a Visiting Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of North Texas/Division of Jazz Studies.
Currently, besides the artistic activities, Ferreira is a full professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia/Brazil.
