An Art Experience with Anyuta Gusakova
Hear a show-and-tell and get hands-on advice from Allerton’s visiting resident at An Art Experience with Anyuta Gusakova from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18 in the Mansion Library. A cash bar will be available.
At this workshop, Anyuta will talk about her art process, how she finds inspiration and what she is working on during her residency. Participants will explore the world of art and nature as Anyuta walks them through a sketching workshop inspired by her time at the Park.
Free, but registration is required here by 4 p.m. April 15. All sales are final.
If you will need disability-related accommodations to participate, please email Olivia Bunting at owarren@illinois.edu.
About the instructor
Anyuta Gusakova was born and raised in Russia and was classically trained at art schools in Moscow. She now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she owns her own studio, Anyuta’s Toy Sculptures & Whimsical Fine Art.
Gusakova strives to bring childlike joy out of people with her art, which ranges from small ceramic figurines to large fiberglass unicorns.
“I make sculpture and drawings that give people joy. I want to connect with their inner child. I want to touch people to the point where they know how to be happy unconditionally. Like children, we don’t need a reason to be happy and to feel joy.”
