Allerton Art Class
Learn something new this summer with the beautiful Allerton grounds as your classroom and inspiration! Choose from two 5-week courses: Beginning Watercolor and Beginning Nature Sketching – or register for both! Class will meet 5 times on Thursdays starting August 15th from 9am-12pm and/or 12:30-3:30pm. These classes are geared towards individuals with little to no experience but an interest in learning the basics.
Enrollment Cost: $125 per course for 5 weeks of instruction plus cost of materials.

A materials list will be provided at time of enrollment with an opportunity learn more about the course and materials at a meet and greet with instructor, Sally Walsh, prior to the first week of class.

Class: August 15, 22, 29, Sept 5, and 12
Course 1: Beginning Watercolor 9am-12pm
So you have never painted before but you want to learn how to use traditional transparent watercolors? You will learn how to select a brush, types of paper, how to stretch a piece of watercolor paper, color mixing, shading, perspective, preserving the white of the paper, creating visual interest, and how to paint fruit, leaves, flowers, and glass. Each week we will be learning new techniques and covering a different topic: landscape, floral, still life, nature studies.

Course 2: Beginning Sketching from Nature 12:30-3:30pm
Learn to see things in nature- and translate them into a drawing. No experience necessary. We will learn techniques of shading, perspective, how to draw leaves, trees, flowers, water, reflections, create texture, landscapes. Each week will be a new lesson with new skills and cover a different topic or technique of drawing including pencil, pen, and colored pencil.
