Winter Solstice Bonfire
Join us to celebrate the “shortest day of the year” at the Winter Solstice Bonfire on Monday, December 21 from 5-9 p.m. in the Allerton Meadow!
Allerton hosted its first “Winter Solstice Walk” in 2017, inviting participants to warm-up by a small campfire after a short hike. Since then, the Solstice Bonfire has grown into one of our largest events, welcoming thousands of people to celebrate the beginning of longer days as the earth tilts back towards the sun.
Throughout history, people have been celebrated the winter solstice in a variety of ways, and we are honored to bring people together to continue this tradition.
In addition to the bonfire (lit around 6 p.m.), take time to stroll through Holiday GLOW (boots recommended!) and warm up with a drink from the bar or meal from a food truck or the Greenhouse Café (limited menu).
Complete your visit with an overnight stay in the Mansion or one of our guesthouses. View rooms and make your reservation online or by calling 217-333-3287.
$20/vehicle, payable upon arrival*. Cash only; exact change appreciated.
*Please note that there may be a wait for entry into this popular event. Plan to arrive early if you would like to be present for the bonfire lighting around 6 p.m. Learn more about parking here. Thank you in advance for your patience!
