The Farms: Ikebana: Party with Shakuyaku 芍薬

Experience Level: Beginner

Enjoy the Japanese art of ikebana, where floral arrangement becomes more than simply arranging flowers in a vase, at Ikebana: Party with Shakuyaku 芍薬 on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m.-noon or 1-3 p.m. in the Mansion Carriage House. (Both classes will cover the same material)

Join the Illinois Prairie Ikenobo Chapter for an introduction to the philosophy of ikebana—meaning “make flowers come alive”—and explore techniques that transform cut flowers into vibrant arrangements highlighting each bloom’s natural beauty and harmony.

Students will create their own floral piece to take home while developing aesthetic sensitivity and mindfulness.

$50/person (Ages 13+; Ages 13-15 should be accompanied by a registered adult.) Register here. Registration will close May 9 or when capacity is reached. All sales are final.
