Experience level: Beginner
Create your own zine (and learn what a “zine” is!) with our current Hood Artist-in-Residence at a Zine Workshop on Wednesday, November 11 from 6-8 p.m. the Library.
Artist and librarian Megan Lotts will lead students through the process of making a zine (pronounced zeen, short for “magazine”). Zines are small, handmade booklets that combines words, images, collage, drawing, and storytelling to share ideas and experiences in a creative way. Students willexplore Allerton, reflect on what they observe and experience in the landscape, and transform those observations into a personal creative publication. No artistic experience is necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to experiment!
Students will also learn about the history of zines while exploring a curated collection of nature-themed zines and examples created by Lotts.
$5/person. Register here. Registration closes November 9 or when capacity is reached. All sales are final.
