Experience level: Beginner; ages 18+
Learn approachable ways to draw from observation at The Art of Observation Drawing Series Part 3: Drawn by Curiosity on Saturday, February 13 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Studio.
Instructor Emily Tackitt will bring together the observational drawing techniques explored throughout The Art of Observation series and spend more time developing a drawing from beginning to end. Rather than moving through a series of shorter exercises, this workshop offers a more relaxed drawing experience with time to settle into the process, make adjustments, explore value and detail, and develop a more fully rendered drawing if desired.
Students are invited to bring one simple object they feel inspired to draw, perhaps something with an interesting shape, texture, or personal meaning.
$150/person* for the entire series here or $75/class at the links below. Registration will close on January 2 for the entire series and one week before each subsequent class. All sales are final.
January 30: Chasing Light & Shadow
February 13: Drawn by Curiosity
*Students should bring a drawing sketchbook or drawing paper; graphite pencils. A small range such as HB, 2B, 6B and 8B is recommended, but students may participate with a single graphite pencil if desired; eraser (kneaded eraser recommended); pencil sharpener. Blending stump optional.
If you will need disability-related accommodations to participate, please email Olivia at owarren@illinois.edu.
