Transform a simple outline into something that feels dimensional and alive at The Art of Observation Drawing Series Part 2: Chasing Light & Shadow on Saturday, January 30 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Studio.

Instructor Emily Tackitt and students will slow down and explore how light moves across objects, creating highlights, midtones, shadows, and depth.

Through a series of approachable drawing exercises, students will experiment with value, explore how different graphite pencils behave, and discover ways to build and blend shadows, lift highlights, and use contrast to create form.

This class is not about creating the perfect drawing but more about experimenting, exploring, and allowing your sketchbook pages to show the process of learning.

$150/person* for the entire series here or $75/class at the links below. Registration will close on January 2 for the entire series and one week before each subsequent class. All sales are final.

January 9: Finding Form
