West Family Pioneer Cemeteries

The West Family Cemetery is located on the south side of Allerton Park, south of the McDonald Family Trails Parking Lot.  John West was a native of Ohio, he moved to Illinois in 1835 and settled just above the mouth of Willow Branch Creek.  His family camped in wagons until their little log home was complete.  John West was married five times and had nine children, he died in 1871 and is buried here. Also buried in the West Family Cemetery are John’s first three wives, three of his daughters, one son and several grandchildren.
