Please check in at the registration table in the Meadow between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers will help shuttle your gear into the Meadow between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
11 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Arrive/set up campsite (Lunch available for purchase at the Greenhouse Café (open until 4 p.m.))
1-3:00 p.m. Wildlife and fish survey of the Reflecting Pond – Reflecting Pond
Archeology display table and Atlatl spear throw! IL State Archeological Survey – Meadow
Land Conservation Foundation Table – Learn about local land conservation and the Annual Mudpuppy Festival! – Meadow
3-5:00 p.m. River Exploring and Mussels of the Sangamon River – Illinois Natural History Survey – Display and information will be in the Meadow; hike for hands-on survey will leave from the Tent
5-6:30 p.m. Dinner: Food Trucks (Burrito King and Jurassic Grill) or bring your own. – Meadow
6:00 p.m. Owl Calling Contest – Give us your best owl hoot or scream! – Tent
6:30 p.m. Live wildlife show – Bob Tarter (Animology – Natural History Educational Company) – Tent
7:30-10:00 p.m. Campfires – S’mores, Stories and Singalong! Meadow, Fire Pits
9-10:00 p.m. Night Hike – Hike the river trail and talk to the owls! Leaving from the Tent
9-11:00 p.m. Astronomy Hike/Star gazing –University of IL Astronomy Dept.– South Meadow Hilltop
Sunday, September 20
7-9:00 a.m. Breakfast, campers own expense, Greenhouse Café (open at 9 a.m.) or bring your own
7-9:00 a.m. Mist-netting for Birds – Illinois Natural History Survey – see how biologist capture and study birds – Meadow
7-10:00 a.m. Allerton Park Bird Club – learn about the bird club, check out binoculars and more! – Meadow
11:00 a.m. Breakdown/clean up campsite – Volunteers will be available from 10:30 a.m.-noon to help transport gear back to vehicles
RESTROOMS – One set of restrooms is in the same building as the Café and a second set of restrooms is located at the NE end of the Visitor Center. Both sets of restrooms will be open all night.
