Glass: Fused & Slumped Bowl

Details

Venue

Experience level: Beginner; ages 18+

Learn the process of fusing and slumping at Glass: Fused & Slumped Bowl on Sunday, January 10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and January 24 from 12-2 p.m. in the Studio.

Instructor Billie Theide will lead this two-day workshop.

On the first day, students will be introduced to glass for fusing and slumping as they learn to design, safely and accurately cut, prepare, clean and glue, and assemble at least one 4-6” square piece for fusing and slumping. This is a hands-on making day!

On day two, students will learn about kilns, fusing schedules, slumping molds, slumping schedules, and collect finished fused and slumped piece(s). This information will be presented via video and still images. Billie will bring a kiln, and it will be “loaded and unloaded” for demonstration purposes.

Between each class, Billie will fuse and slump each student’s piece. (Classes are two weeks apart to allow for the fusing and cooling, and slumping and cooling of the work.)

$285/person. Register here. Registration closes January 3 or when capacity is reached. All sales are final.

If you will need disability-related accommodations to participate, please email Olivia at owarren@illinois.edu.
