Land of Plenty: Robert Allerton and His Gift to Illinois

Join us for an evening at Allerton, as Yeoman Filmer Productions presents “Land of Plenty: Robert Allerton and His Gift to Illinois”

The rich history of Allerton Park and Retreat Center is explored in this short documentary. The creation of this sprawling estate by philanthropist and art collector Robert Allerton is told through interviews, historic photos, filmstrips and vivid images of the Park today.

The film will be followed by a presentation from the film’s Writer and Director, Tory Dahlhoff.

Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event. General Admission-$10 / Reserved Seating-$25. Reserved seats must be purchased in advance by calling 217-333-3287.

Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players
Don’t miss Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players performing at the Allerton Barn Sunday May 4th! The event kicks off at 10:00am and 1:00pm with inflatables, raffles, snacks and a local community expo and the Naptime Players on from 10:00am – 12:00 pm, and 1:00pm – 3:00pm.

Just like a typical concert, fans at a Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players’ concert are jumping, dancing, and bouncing off each other in rhythm to the music. Unlike a typical concert, these fans are having a blast while their parents chuckle off to the side. Hopefully they have their cameras ready to catch the kiddie mosh pit found at nearly every Justin Roberts’ concert.

Justin has performed in front of millions of people on The Today Show, he’s featured on Nick Jr. TV, and his song “Get Me Some Glasses” was featured on a World Series broadcast. He’s also garnered kudos and raves from national media including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, People, Entertainment Weekly, and the Chicago Tribune.

Only 220 tickets available for each concert – book your tickets today!

The SHANTIES 7pm-9pm

The Shanties “New Irish” music is filled with rocked-up Irish favorites, old, new and originals. Though there is nothing sweeter than an Irish ballad, the focus is the up-tempo rowdier melodies with pop Irish influence from Solas, Gaelic Storm, Great Big Sea and Flogging Molly to name a few.
The blended singing and instrument sounds of fiddle, mandolin, whistle, guitar, and the Irish (drum) bodhran create the unique sound of The Shanties.

Striving for a full CD of original Irish-style music, The Shanties Fear Not CD was completed about 2 years ago. The CD has been a wonderful collaboration and quite fruitful for the band’s reputation. It’s being played from Canada to the Ukraine and from Australia to Japan. It is available at ITunes, CDBaby, Amazon and most other online music locations.

Summer camp – Fort Week (early session)

Back by popular demand, Fort Week is a must-do this summer! We are holding an early session and a late session so there will be twice as many chances to participate. This camp will ignite your child’s creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness as they work through the process of designing a fort, then using natural elements to actually build it outdoors! Last summer, our campers could not have been more proud of their creations – and with good reason!

Program scholarships – We realize that some children are unable to attend summer camp due to financial hardships, so Allerton offers a limited number of scholarships to help ease this burden and allow as many children as possible to participate. Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Contact Mindy Brand for more information.
