Summer Solstice Bonfire
June 20, 7:30 p.m.
It’s called Summer Solstice, Midsummer, Litha, and the Feast of St. John the Baptist. Whatever you call this time of year, celebrate at Allerton starting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 in the Allerton Meadow. Cleanse your spirit, get rid of the negatives winter has given you and watch the sun set before a bonfire is lit at 9 p.m.
A cash bar will be available starting at 7:30 p.m. Feel free to arrive early to go on a hike or a stroll through the Formal Gardens.
Registration is not required to attend the bonfire.
Threshold, Hearth & Home: A Solstice Papermaking Workshop
June 20 and 22, 6-9 p.m.
Before the bonfire, consider taking part in a special solstice-themed papermaking workshop, Threshold, Hearth & Home, led by local paper artist E. Ainsley. Bring your own documents, poetry, journals, notes and images to shred and beat into a pulp, which will infuse more meaning into the paper you create.
This is a two-day workshop, and participants will need to attend both sessions from 6 to 9 p.m. June 20 and 22.
