How long have you been with Allerton?
About 5 months!
Describe your role in 3 words.
Organization, Flexibility, and Creativity
What has been your favorite project so far?
There are so many fun events that happen at Allerton that it is hard to pick just one! However, if I had to choose—this year’s Prairie Sky feat Deana Carter on Sept 20th is the event I’m most looking forward to currently!
What was your first job?
My first job was working at the mall in high school—it was terrible but I gained a lot of respect for those who work retail!
What is something you’ve never done, but would like to do?
I’d love to put on a Haunted House! I am so scared of Haunted Houses myself but I’ve always wanted to build one start to finish to terrify the pants off other people!!
What is one thing you can’t live without?
A calendar and a notebook: two equally important things in the life of an event planner!
If you were to write a self-help book, what would the topic be?
How to successfully plan your life without stressing yourself out!
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I’d love to learn how to plant a vegetable garden (and keep it alive!)
What do you like to do on your days off?
Travel and explore- even if it is just an hour trip in one direction. I find there’s always something new to see and discover!
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
Like most people, most days are filled with an abundance of emails, phone calls, and meetings—sorting out all the little details that make our events so awesome! However, there’s never a dull day working at Allerton. Each day is not only different but I get to work and interact with so many very talented and creative people that make all of those seemingly mundane tasks significant and exciting. I’m currently working on planning and organizing a variety of events taking place anywhere between now and well into 2020!
What is something you’ve learned in the last week?
To always put yourself out there. If it excites you and scares you at the same time—it probably means you should do it!
Is there anything about Allerton you haven’t learned yet, but would love to know?
What’s magical about this place is that I feel like there are an infinite amount of things to see and learn—things that change with the weather, with the seasons, and with the times. I’m looking forward to learning and growing with Allerton as I continue my career here.
What is on your wish list for the next five years at Allerton?
To continue to see this place grow and evolve—and to have a hand in shaping those changes.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
To travel to as many countries as I can in my life.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
Mr. Brightside – The Killers
What do you like most about your position at Allerton?
The interactions I get to have with our Allerton community members. Learning about people’s connections and history with this place is truly inspiring. In the short period of time that I have worked here, the abundance stories and experiences that guests have shared with me is magical—and is often the catalyst for my creativity in planning events.
