UPDATE 4/7, 11am: Find updated trail guidelines to ensure social distancing here.
Officials at the University of Illinois and Allerton Park have opened the trails on the South side of Allerton (8am-Sunset). Guests should approach the Main (Allerton Road) Entrance to access the 6 miles of trail, consisting of the Schroth Trail and McDonald Family Trails.
The North (Old Timber Road) Entrance and ALL gardens, roads, and facilities on the North side of the Park remain CLOSED to pedestrians and vehicles.
For your safety and the safety of other visitors, please:
–Be diligent about following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommended social distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet from other persons at all times.
–Do not visit if you are exhibiting symptoms or have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19.
–Plan ahead: All facilities, including restrooms, will be closed. Bring your own water. Wear appropriate footwear for muddy trails.
–“Pack it in, pack it out” – All trash cans have been removed.
–Follow the CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to visiting.
–Safely share the trail and warn other users of your presence and as you pass.
We hope you can safely take advantage of the many benefits of nature, at Allerton or elsewhere. As the situation continues to evolve, we will do everything we can to remain open as long as it’s safe to do so.
