Where are Allerton’s holiday events located?
Allerton Park and Retreat Center is located at 515 Old Timber Road, Monticello, IL 61856.
Where should I park?
We recommend parking in the main “Retreat Center Parking Lot”, although the Visitor Center lot will be open as well.
Will Holiday Showcase tickets be available at the door?
Yes! Online tickets will be sold until midnight on Thursday, December 7, or you can purchase a ticket at the door. Tickets are $10/person, ages 5 & under are free.
If I purchased a ticket in advance, do I need to print it out?
Nope, we’ll have your name on the attendee list.
Will the Showcase sell-out?
No! Come on out Friday (5-9pm), Saturday (10am-4pm), or Sunday (10am-4pm) to join in on the fun!
I’m confused about Friday. What events are taking place?
You can view a master schedule of events here. We’re kicking off the opening of the Kirby Winter Wellness Walk and the Holiday Showcase with one big celebration event – All is Bright! Activities include: the Holiday Showcase (5-8pm; $10/person, Ages 5 & under FREE) in the Mansion, taking in the lights and music on the Wellness Walk (5-8pm; donations appreciated), a Natural Ornament-Making Workshop in the Visitor Center (4-7pm; donations appreciated), hot chocolate, popcorn, and s’mores kits in the Visitor Center, Mamma D’s Smokehouse food truck (5-8pm, additional expense) and a bonfire in the Meadow, and carriage rides around the estate for $10/person (cash only).
Do I need to buy a ticket ahead of time for All is Bright?
Is there a fee for All is Bright?
Well, it depends on what you want to do! You DO need a ticket to enter the Mansion for the Holiday Showcase (and that can be purchased online until Thursday or at the door). Donations are appreciated for the Kirby Winter Wellness Walk and Natural Ornament Making, but there is not a fee. Mamma D’s Smokehouse food truck will be in the Meadow with food available for purchase from 5-8pm. Carriage rides will be available for $10/person (cash only), and reservations will be taken on-site.
What is the Kirby Winter Wellness Walk?
With the generous support of Kirby Medical Center, we have illuminated the Park to help inspire you to stay active this winter and experience the Park after dark (open Tuesdays – Saturdays from 5-8pm through January 6). The enchanting stroll of lights starts in the main Retreat Center Parking Lot and goes through the Gardens, past the Visitor Center to the Adam statue, into the Meadow and down to the Reflecting Pond across from the Mansion. Feel free to bring a flashlight, as parts of the walk may be dark. As with any Allerton adventure, we encourage you to explore the Walk in your own way and make the memorable experience your own!
Is the Walk accessible for wheelchairs or strollers?
A short part of the Walk does go through rocks, but there is an alternative paved path.
What if the weather is bad?
For All is Bright on Friday night – dress warm! The entire Winter Wellness Walk is outdoors, although the Visitor Center will be open with hot chocolate to warm you up! (A Holiday Showcase ticket is required to enter the Mansion, and can be purchased online until Thursday at midnight, or at the door.) The Holiday Showcase will remain open all weekend – rain or snow!
Do I have to sign-up for a lunch in order to come to the Holiday Showcase?
No! You are welcome to come any time during the open hours to shop, get a Mansion tour, and hop on a carriage ride ($10/person, cash only)! (As of 12/7 we have limited seating available for the Sunday, Dec. 10 3:30pm lunch seating. Make your reservations here.)
Are there overnight accommodations available?
Yes! We have lodging availability Friday and Saturday, December 8 and 9. You can view guest rooms here, and call (217)333-3287 to make reservations.
