Thanks to support from Friends of Allerton, we have been able to implement intensive invasive species management over the last few years by renting a forestry mulcher.
The mulcher allowed Park staff to thin or remove nearly 90 acres of invasive species – a task which would have taken 15+ years to do by hand! (And that’s if we strictly did ONLY invasive species control year-round.)
The top picture shows the privet (an invasive species) growing upwards of 12 feet tall. The blue bells and many other natives were seen the same spring following the winter work!
Thanks to the Friends of Allerton who made this possible! #AllinforAllerton
