Youth Art Studio

Allerton Park and the Monticello Area Arts Council are partnering to offer a Youth Art Studio inspired by the unique beauty of Allerton Park and the philosophy of Robert Allerton to live life as art. This one-day workshop on Saturday, April 8 is an immersive artistic experience for third through eighth graders that will allow young artists to communicate through multiple mediums and emphasize the natural world.

Projects will include printmaking, painting, weaving, tie-dye, and up-cycled paper and record projects. Subjects will include plants, animals, woodland, and sculptures of Allerton Park. Participants will begin their day by touring the formal gardens and natural areas to draw inspiration for their studio work.

This program will also introduce a variety of materials and techniques, expand skill sets, and develop the mastery and expressive style of the young artist.

The day will culminate with an art exhibit and reception held in the Greenhouse Auditorium & Café.

Cost is $85/person and space is limited. All sales are final. All needed materials are included in the registration fee. Register here.

The instructor for the workshop is Belinda Beccue, a local artist and educator. The Monticello Area Arts Council joins Allerton Park in offering valuable art experiences and opportunities to engage the community.

If you have questions or will need disability-related accommodations in order to participate, please email Olivia Bunting at owarren@illinois.edu.
