The Farms: Author Talk with Ron Erskine
Just in time for Halloween, join us for an Author Talk with Ron Erskine on Tuesday, October 13th 6:00 to 8:00 pm. in the Library.
Author RJ Erskine will blend history, storytelling, and personal experience as a practitioner in a predominately Amish community in central Pennsylvania during the 1980s. Erskine will rely on his first and fourth suspense novels, Casting Demons Into Swine and The Coigreach, for his tales, which will include readings of select passages. A question-and-answer discussion will follow the presentation, as well as book signings by the author. About the Author:
Author and veterinarian, RJ Erskine, served on the faculty at Michigan State University for 30 years. In his suspense novels, he relies on personal experiences while practicing among an Amish community in Pennsylvania, and how crises brought about by natural forces and human depravity impacted their lives. His fifth book, Stories from Michigan’s Changing Rural Landscape, is a collection of essays and photographs based on interviews with small business owners and farmers who strive to make a living in an age of consolidation. The author lives on a small slice of pastoral Michigan with his wife and misbehaving cats

The Farms: An Allerton Folk School, offers classes, workshops, and gatherings focusing on art, outdoor education, science, storytelling, and wellness. All experiences value hands-on, experiential teaching and learning, and are facilitated by and for the members of the community.
