DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Intermediate (ages 15+) \nTake your watercolor skills to the next level at Intermediate Watercolor  Friday through Sunday\, Oct. 2-4 from 12-4 p.m. in The Studio. \nInstructor Deb Marett will lead this class tackling some of watercolor’s most rewarding challenges. Using photos of Allerton’s gardens as inspiration\, students will explore techniques for painting lush garden scenes\, creating glowing light subjects against dark backgrounds\, capturing fields of flowers without painting every bloom\, and simplifying complex landscapes into fresh\, expressive paintings.\nStudents will also cover some basic drawing skills and discuss tips for choosing a scene that will make for a successful painting. \n$170/person*. Register here. Registration closes Sept. 25 or when capacity is reached. All sales are final. \n*Students should bring:\n– Watercolor paint\n–  A flat palette/mixing tray large enough to work with several colors at once\n–  Brushes (flat and round\, one of the flats at least 1” wide (flat). At least one squirrel hair brush recommended\, but not required).\n–  Watercolor paper – 100% cotton highly recommended\n–  A sponge or rag\n– Photos (either printed or on a phone) to paint \n\nIf you will need disability-related accommodations to participate\, please email owarren@illinois.edu. \nBy attending\, you consent to your image being used in Allerton marketing\, social media and publications. Please alert the photographer or videographer if you do not want your image taken.  \n\nAbout the Instructor\nDeb Marett is a professional artist whose work focuses on equestrian scenes\, figurative scenes\, and portraiture.
