Spring Tour Guide Orientation

If you are a history buff, love learning new things and enjoy sharing your knowledge with others, consider becoming an Allerton Tour Guide. Learn about Allerton — from its history to the creation of its beautiful formal gardens — during our upcoming tour guide training. Then share it with others as you guide tours through the park!

All new trainees will need to attend a general informational session at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18 in the Visitor Center.

Register here.

Trainees will receive all necessary information, study materials, and fact sheets to assist them in the tour guide training process.

We rely on Allerton Tour Guides to lead all tours in the Mansion, Gardens, and Natural Areas. The upcoming tour guide training will focus on Garden tours specifically.

Anyone who is interested in learning more about Allerton Park is welcome to attend. By becoming an Allerton Tour Guide, participants are also becoming a part of our highly valued group of Allerton Volunteers. Trainees need to submit a Volunteer Application and a signed Volunteer Waiver in order to proceed with training. There will be time to do this during the March 18 session; however, prior completion of both forms is highly recommended.

If you have any questions about the tour guide training or volunteering for Allerton, please contact Sarah Putman at sputman2@illinois.edu.
