DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a Full Moon Hike (Ages 21+) celebrating the ‘Buck Moon’ on Thursday\, July 10 at 8 p.m.\, starting from the Main Parking Lot. Allerton Natural Areas Manager Alex Lourash will lead the hike along Allerton trails to listen for owls and other nocturnal wildlife under the light of a full moon. \nThe July full moon is known as the Buck Moon\, which celebrates the time when male deer (bucks) typically feature fully grown antlers. \nEnjoy the hike on its own or add a beer to enjoy while you walk. \n$10/person\, $20/person includes a beer with the hike (Ages 21+). DESCRIPTION:We are taking things offline to play brain games\, board games\, card games and even games from around the world at Summer Day Camp: Games Galore on June 23-27 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers will play games new and old\, learning game rules and fair game play\, all with the goal of inventing their own game that can be played with camp friends! \nRegister 5- to 7-year-olds as Acorns\, while 8- to 11-year-olds are Adventurers. \n$200/person for the week*. The following add-ons are available at registration: Early Arrivers from 7-8 a.m. ($15)\, After Care from 3-5:30 p.m. ($35)\, and lunch for the week ($25).  Campers can also bring their own lunch. \nRegister your Acorn (ages 5-7) here. \nRegister your Adventurer (ages 8-11) here. It’s all included in your registration fee\, as well as all meals and unlimited beer\, wine and soda.  \nEscape the daily grind and slow down to make memories\, dedicating time to connection and carefree fun. Campers will have the opportunity to paddleboard on the Reflecting Pond\, bond over trust falls\, compete in relay races and trivia\, create a communal paint by numbers\, and dance the night away! The event opens up the Allerton Park Concert Series presented by Cim-Tek Filtration\, with monthly concerts through Sept. 5. \nStarting at 5 p.m.\, show your pride and have some fun as we Chalk the Walk to the Mansion! All artistic skill levels are welcome! Chalk will be provided\, or bring your own if you’d like. \nBe sure to peruse the vendor fair (6-9 p.m.) featuring local artists and LGBTQ+ resources. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the peaceful\, serene atmosphere of Allerton as it provides the perfect setting for Summer Yoga every Tuesday* in June\, July and August from 9 to 10 a.m. on the Gatehouse Lawn. \nInstructor Josie Heck with Yoga Off the Square will lead students through class strength poses perfect for all levels. Students are encouraged to bring their own mat; limited mats will be provided on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \nRegistration is required here. Community classes are donation-based to help support the Park and public programs. While she specializes in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow the most popular classes are Beginners Yoga\, Chair Yoga\, Kids classes\, Yin Yoga\, Restorative Yoga\, and Gentle Flow. \nShe teaches Community Yoga\, Stretch ‘n Sip and Full Moon classes thru The Farms at Allerton Park and Retreat Center as well as providing free classes at Monticello Middle School and Monticello High School. She is certified as a wild edible mushroom expert and licensed to harvest and sell to restaurants and markets in the State of Pennsylvania. Schuler is also a contributing culinary author for a wild mushroom trade journal.\nA graduate of East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania\, Lee has worked as a field biologist and environmental educator\, and currently works in public health. DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner\nExperience camera-less photography and the joy of recording the beauty of nature at Springtime Cyanotype & the Magic of Light on Saturday\, May 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Greenhouse Auditorium.\nInstructor Crystal Hartman will guide students through a fun\, straightforward process of creating beautiful prints with the magic of light. She will share a bit of history on cyanotype\, one of the oldest known photo processes that was originally used to document botanical specimens by treating a surface – paper or cloth – with iron salts which then react to ultraviolet light. (Paper will be pre-coated with the cyanotype chemistry prior to the workshop.)\nEach student will practice observing nature and creating compositions inspired by what they see\, creating several prints as they experiment with various timings and placements.\n$85/person. As an artist-in-residence at Delight Flower Farm in Champaign\, she developed a series of cyanotypes celebrating the native plants and flowers of Eastern Illinois. She works on ecological principles through local land-based sources and through community.\nHer work is featured in publications like Ponder Review\, La Piccoletta Barca and CutBank Literary Journal. DESCRIPTION:Join Allerton Natural Areas staff on a unique bird-focused hike each Friday in April and May. As spring migration progresses\, the species of birds that can be seen changes almost daily. \nHikes are open to anyone and are free for Allerton Park Bird Club members. Registration is required to participate. \nEach week the hike will leave from the Allerton Main Parking Lot at 9 a.m. A different area of the park will be featured each week.
