DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner\nMake your own acrylic pour creation and enjoy time with other artists at Acrylic Pour Painting on Sunday\, Aug. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Greenhouse Auditorium.\nInstructor Alexis Henson of Alexis Walter Creations will introduce students to the artistic and spontaneous experience of abstract fluid art as they learn how to pour their own creations. She started pour painting in 2020 while completing her B.A. in art history from UIUC.\nIn 2021 she expanded to developing partnership with Loft Hair Salon in Bement to have an art gallery space in the salon to showcase her work in a local setting. In 2022\, while completing her M.S. in arts administration from Drexel University\, she began working in local vendor events. Her work can be found on her website\, Etsy shop\, and in person at Loft Hair Salon. DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: All levels (ages 16+)\nGrab a smock\, roll up your sleeves and dive into the art of portraits at Experimental Portraiture Painting on Sunday\, Aug. 10 from 12-4 p.m. in The Studio.\nInstructor Vivian Krishnan will help students learn experimental approaches to portraiture using charcoal\, ink\, paints and more. Studies will be done from a live portrait model. This course is open to all levels — including new students — and is also an excellent follow-up for those who participated in previous Live Figure Drawing classes at The Farms.\n$110/person (ages 16+)*. DESCRIPTION:It’s the last week of camp and that means it’s time to celebrate all the classic things we think of as part of the season at Summer Day Camp: Summer Celebration on Aug. 4-8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers will enjoy water activities\, gardening\, reading\, drawing with sidewalk chalk\, playing games\, eating summer food\, and doing lots of exploring at Allerton Park! \nRegister 5- to 7-year-olds as Acorns\, while 8- to 11-year-olds are Adventurers. \n$200/person for the week*. The following add-ons are available at registration: Early Arrivers from 7-8 a.m. ($15)\, After Care from 3-5:30 p.m. ($35)\, and lunch for the week ($25).  Campers can also bring their own lunch. \nRegister your Acorn (ages 5-7) here. \nRegister your Adventurer (ages 8-11) here. (Adventurers also have the opportunity to go to the Monticello Family Aquatic Center twice a week. DESCRIPTION:Our always-popular Irish Fest returns with plenty of festive fun on Friday\, Aug. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Gatehouse Lawn. This outdoor concert will feature Springfield-area band Skibbereen\, as well as Character Fleadh\, which performs Irish and Scottish traditions\, Chicago-style. This event is part of the Allerton Park Concert Series presented by Cim-Tek Filtration\, with monthly concerts through Sept. 5. \nFood will be available to purchase from: Daro Coffee Co.\, Jimmy John’s\, Burrito King\, Greenhouse Cafè (limited menu)\, Mini Bronuts and Cousins Maine Lobster. In addition\, the Greenhouse Cafè will be open in the Greenhouse until 7 p.m. \nA bar will be available. DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner\nExplore the botany\, natural history and flavors of several local wild edible plants at Edible Midwest Natives on Wednesday\, July 16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Mansion Carriage House.\nHeidi Leuszler\, the owner and head chef of Berries and Flour in Champaign\, will focus on native plants that are harvestable at the time of class. Those could include spicebush\, common milkweed\, nettles\, sweet Cicely\, black raspberry\, American persimmon\, common prickly ash and violets.\nStudents will learn ethical and sustainable foraging practices\, look at different types of harvesting gear\, and take a short walk into the woods to find\, identify and forage edible parts from selected species. Students will then clean\, process and eat what was foraged\, and will go home with a handful of recipes\, samples and plants (resources permitting).\n$65/person*. Register here by July 2. DESCRIPTION:Get ready for Summer Day Camp: Fairytales and Forts on July 7-11 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Through the stories of classic fairytales like The Three Little Pigs\, Rapunzel\, Goldilocks & the Three Bears\, and Jack & the Beanstalk\, campers will build forts and immerse themselves in imaginary play\, right here at Allerton! \nRegister 5- to 7-year-olds as Acorns\, while 8- to 11-year-olds are Adventurers. \n$200/person for the week*. The following add-ons are available at registration: Early Arrivers from 7-8 a.m. ($15)\, After Care from 3-5:30 p.m. ($35)\, and lunch for the week ($25).  Campers can also bring their own lunch. \nRegister your Acorn (ages 5-7) here. \nRegister your Adventurer (ages 8-11) here. Students will start with intention setting and meditation before easing into a gentle yoga sequence that emphasizes intuitive flow and follows the rhythm of your body.\nClasses will conclude with dedicated time for reflection and journaling. Since then\, she has taught vinyasa flow classes\, gentle yoga and prenatal yoga. Each teaching experience has given her the opportunity to learn and grow as a teacher and has provided her with new perspectives that inform her teaching.\nTasch’s classes are rooted in intuitive movement\, safe alignment and encouraging students to follow their own inner rhythm. It’s all included in your registration fee\, as well as all meals and unlimited beer\, wine and soda.  \nEscape the daily grind and slow down to make memories\, dedicating time to connection and carefree fun.
