DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner \nFall is the perfect time to learn to crochet at Crochet 101: Fingerless Gloves on Sunday\, Nov. 22 from 10 a.m-4 p.m. in The Studio. \nInstructor Billie Theide will lead students in crocheting a pair of fingerless gloves with a unique cable-like stitch pattern. Students will learn to read crochet patterns\, determine size\, learn to chain\, turn\, crochet through the back loop\, do half double crochet\, slip stitches\, and yarn over. Her work is in public art collections around the world including the Smithsonian\, Museum of Arts & Design in New York City\, Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City\, and the Racine Art Museum\, among others. She is the recipient of a Visual Arts Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and five Artists Fellowship Grants from the Illinois Arts Council. Theide has been recognized for her excellence in teaching and is a Distinguished Member and Past-President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths.

DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: All skill levels (ages 13+) \nLearn how to ease your foot\, back\, or hip pain\, and hike without pain at MELT with Mary on Sundays\, Sept. 20\, Oct. 18\, Nov. 15\, or Dec. 20 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Mansion Library. \nInstructor Mary French will lead this introductory workshop to the MELT (Myofascial Energetic Length Technique) method\, a self-treatment system that uses soft rollers and balls to improve the body’s connective tissue\, nervous and lymphatic systems. \nStudents will use MELT soft balls and soft rollers as they learn simple techniques that can be done at home to remain active and healthy\, and help provide relief from low back pain\, arthritis\, bunions and plantar fasciitis \n$30/person*. Since that time\, she has expanded her range of classes to better serve the community. While she specializes in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow\, her most popular classes are Beginners Yoga\, Chair Yoga\, Kids classes\, Yin Yoga\, Restorative Yoga and Gentle Flow. \nShe teaches yoga classes through The Farms as well as providing free classes at Monticello Middle School and free breathwork at Monticello High School. She has also led classes at the local hospital and senior assisted facilities.
