Learn how to start a pollinator garden
Join Callista Stilts, an Allerton intern and sustainable design student at the University of Illinois for a session on pollinator-friendly gardens at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30. There will be a discussion on Allerton’s efforts toward supporting pollinator populations, a tour of the park’s pollinator-friendly gardens, and tips given on designing and maintaining your own garden in a sustainable way. Seed packets for getting your garden started will be provided.
Children can also join in and will get their own instructions for creating a “bee bath” during the event, which will be held in the Greenhouse Auditorium.
The event is free, but registration is required. Please register children also. Scroll down for details.
Lodging is also available for those wanting to spend the night on the Allerton grounds. Information is available here or by calling 217-333-3287.
