The Farms: Hot Chocolate Hikes

Experience Level: Beginner

Get the kids outside this winter at Hot Chocolate Hikes on Jan. 15, Feb. 5 and March 4. See below for times and meeting locations.

Children and their guardians are invited to join mother-daughter team Bridget and Rose Frerichs to discover the joys of Allerton in winter. Each adventure will feature a different part of the Park, a stop for hot chocolate and a story around the campfire. Kids will be encouraged to run, play and ask questions about their discoveries.

Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 3:30 p.m.: Meet at the Greenhouse Café for a hike to the Centaur
Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m.: Meet at the McDonald Family Trailhead to discover the Lost Garden
Tuesday, March 4 at 9:30 a.m.: Meet in the Main Parking Lot to explore the Wandering Woods and Fu Dog Garden

$5/person (adults free with registered child). Register here one day prior to each hike. All sales are final.

About the instructors

Bridget and Rose have been exploring the outdoors together since 2016. As they home-school together, their love for nature and learning from our natural world continues to grow. They hope to share some of their appreciation and awe with hikers of all ages who want to experience Allerton during the “off-season”.

The Farms: An Allerton Folk School, offers classes, workshops, and gatherings focusing on art, health & wellness, history, nature & outdoor education, or science. All experiences value hands-on, experiential teaching and learning, and are facilitated by and for the members of the community.
