SUMMARY:The Farms: Teen Ikebana: Spring Design
DESCRIPTION:Experience level: Ages 13-18 \nSlow down\, observe\, and create at Teen Ikebana: Spring Design on Saturday\, April 11 from 1-4 p.m. in the Greenhouse Auditorium.\nArtist and floral designer Rachel Wooters will give an introduction to Ikebana\, the Japanese art of flower arranging\, inspired by Allerton’s gardens and spring landscape. Students will work with a curated mix of seasonal garden florals\, wild spring flowers\, branches\, sticks\, stones\, and foraged materials to create designs that are completely unique to the Park and the season.\n$30/person (Ages 13-18). Register here. Registration will close April 4 or when capacity is reached. Her classes—ranging from floral arranging to pottery—invite guests to slow down\, play\, and explore their personal creativity in a welcoming\, artful environment.\nDeeply inspired by the natural beauty and rich history of Allerton Park\, Rachel considers it a creative home and continual source of inspiration. SUMMARY:The Farms: Youth Art Studio
DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner (3rd-8th grade)\nAllerton and the Monticello Area Arts Council are partnering to offer 3rd through 8th graders a Youth Art Studio on Saturday\, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Greenhouse Auditorium. Parents and guardians are invited to an art exhibit and reception in The Studio at the conclusion of the course (4 p.m.).\nInspired by the unique beauty of Allerton\, this workshop — led by artist and educator Belinda Beccue — is an immersive experience that allows artists to communicate through multiple fine arts mediums with an emphasis on the natural world. Projects will include canvas painting\, sculpture\, nature journaling\, watercolor\, photography and more. Students will learn about a variety of materials and techniques\, expand skill sets and develop mastery and expressive style.\n$85/person* (3rd-8th grade). Register here. Registration will close April 7 or when capacity is reached.
