SUMMARY:The Farms: Arboretum Spring Migration Bird Hike
DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner\nObserve a variety of migrating bird species at our Arboretum Spring Migration Bird Hikes on Tuesday\, May 12 from 9-11 a.m. at the Illinois Arboretum (1800 S. Lincoln Ave.\, Urbana). Meet in the Arboretum Parking Lot*.\nJoin Allerton Natural Areas Manger Nate Beccue to explore the Illinois Arboretum as birds begin to move north for the summer. A limited number of binoculars will be available on a first-come basis. The entire hike will be outdoors\, so please dress accordingly.\n$10/person. Register here. Hikes are free for Allerton Bird Club members. Join the Bird Club here. All sales are final. If a meeting location changes\, registrants and bird club members will be notified by email.\n*Limited metered parking spots are available in the lot near the Noel Welcome Garden and along South Lincoln Avenue. Additional metered parking is available in the lot south of the Japan House. (Electronic payment only by MobileMeter.) DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner \nLearn an ancient form of textile art at Beginning Bobbin Lace on Tuesdays\, May 12\, 19 & 26 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in The Studio.\nWith all of the resources that connect lacemakers across the world\, there’s never been a better time to learn how to bobbin lace! Instructor Robin Bagwell will lead this hands-on class\, teaching how to cross and twist as well as how to follow pattern. \nStudents will get the feel of moving bobbins and seeing various patterns develop as they learn the half stitch\, cloth stitch and whole stitch. Written instructions will allow participants to continue their bobbin lace at home. \n$195/person. Register here. Registration will close May 10 or when capacity is reached. That led to Sunday afternoon sessions during the summer to learn the textile art form.
