SUMMARY:The Farms: Intro to Shrub Propagation
DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner\nLearn to create new plants from existing ones at Intro to Shrub Propagation on Wednesday\, Dec. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. in The Studio.\nIllinois Extension Educator Ryan Pankau will lead students through the practice of propagation by using cuttings from existing plants\, as well as a variety of other methods. This workshop will be focused on the basics of woody plant propagation and various methods that can be used to generate offspring from a variety of common shrub species. All students will leave with cuttings to try at home!\n$25/person. Register here. Registration will close Dec. 9 or when capacity is reached. Please alert the photographer or videographer if you do not want your image taken.\nAbout the instructor\nRyan Pankau is the Horticulture Educator for Illinois Extension serving Champaign\, Ford\, Iroquois\, and Vermilion counties in central Illinois. He has more than 20 years’ experience as an arborist and forester after earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in forestry from Southern Illinois University. Ryan has past work experience as a certified arborist\, forest hydrologist\, and USDA-NRCS Area Forester in southern Illinois.\nCurrently\, he specializes in forestry\, tree care\, and the use of native plants in both landscaping and restoration settings. He is the author of the Garden Scoop blog which discusses a wide variety of plant-related topics specific to Illinois.\nAbout The Farms\nThe Farms: An Allerton Folk School\, offers classes\, workshops\, and gatherings focusing on art\, outdoor education\, science\, storytelling\, and wellness. All experiences value hands-on\, experiential teaching and learning\, and are facilitated by and for the members of the community.\nSee the complete Fall schedule here.\n
