SUMMARY:The Farms: Experimental Portraiture Painting
DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: All levels (ages 16+)\nGrab a smock\, roll up your sleeves and dive into the art of portraits at Experimental Portraiture Painting on Sunday\, Aug. 10 from 12-4 p.m. in The Studio.\nInstructor Vivian Krishnan will help students learn experimental approaches to portraiture using charcoal\, ink\, paints and more. Studies will be done from a live portrait model. This course is open to all levels — including new students — and is also an excellent follow-up for those who participated in previous Live Figure Drawing classes at The Farms.\n$110/person (ages 16+)*. Register here by Aug. 8. All sales are final.\n*Students should wear clothes that can get a little messy and bring any art supplies they would like to use during this class. Students should bring a standard 9×12 mixed media pad of paper\, pens\, pencils and any media they would like to create with.\nLearn more about the space where your course will take place here. SUMMARY:The Farms: Acrylic Pour Painting
DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner\nMake your own acrylic pour creation and enjoy time with other artists at Acrylic Pour Painting on Sunday\, Aug. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Greenhouse Auditorium.\nInstructor Alexis Henson of Alexis Walter Creations will introduce students to the artistic and spontaneous experience of abstract fluid art as they learn how to pour their own creations. Methods taught may include ring pour\, string pull\, and pouring on surfaces such as canvas and wood.\nStudents are welcome to purchase a drink in the Greenhouse Café to sip while they create!\n$80/person (Ages 18+). Register here. Registration will close July 30 or when capacity is reached. All sales are final.\nNOTE: Created artwork must remain undisturbed for 48 to 72 hours and will be ready for pickup within a week.\nLearn more about the space where your course will take place here. Please alert the photographer or videographer if you do not want your image taken.\nAbout the Instructor\nAlexis Henson of Alexis Walter Creations specializes in abstract acrylic pour painting\, but dabbles in other mediums like resin\, graphic design\, vinyl\, and digital photography. She started pour painting in 2020 while completing her B.A. in art history from UIUC.\nIn 2021 she expanded to developing partnership with Loft Hair Salon in Bement to have an art gallery space in the salon to showcase her work in a local setting. In 2022\, while completing her M.S. in arts administration from Drexel University\, she began working in local vendor events. Her work can be found on her website\, Etsy shop\, and in person at Loft Hair Salon.
