SUMMARY:The Farms: Youth Art Studio
DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner (3rd-8th grade) \nAllerton Park and the Monticello Area Arts Council are partnering to offer 3rd through 8th graders a Youth Art Studio on Saturday\, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in The Studio. Parents and guardians are invited to an art exhibit and reception in The Studio at the conclusion of the course (3 to 3:30 p.m.). \nInspired by the unique beauty of Allerton\, this workshop — led by artist and educator Belinda Beccue — is an immersive experience that allows artists to communicate through multiple fine arts mediums with an emphasis on the natural world. Projects will include canvas painting\, wire sculpture\, fiber weaving\, photography and more. This program will introduce a variety of materials and techniques\, expand skill sets and develop mastery and expressive style of the young artist. \nStudents should bring a non-perishable sack lunch\, refillable water bottle\, and wear clothes appropriate for a hike and messy art creation. \n$85/person (3rd through 8th grade). Register here by March 29. All sales are final. \nLearn more about the space where your course will take place here. If you will need disability-related accommodations to participate\, please email Sarah Putman at sputman2@illinois.edu. \nBy attending\, you consent to your image being used in Allerton marketing\, social media and publications. Please alert the photographer or videographer if you do not want your image taken. \nAbout the Instructor \nBelinda Beccue is a local artist and longtime art educator. She is a leading member of the Monticello Area Arts Council and one of the founding members of the Allerton Park Nature Journaling Club. \nAbout The Farms \nThe Farms: An Allerton Folk School\, offers classes\, workshops\, and gatherings focusing on art\, health & wellness\, history\, nature & outdoor education\, or science. All experiences value hands-on\, experiential teaching and learning\, and are facilitated by and for the members of the community. \nSee the complete Spring Session schedule here.
