SUMMARY:Fall Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: All Skill Levels \nAllerton provides the perfect setting to relax\, unwind\, and reconnect with your body and spirit at Fall Yoga on Tuesdays\, Sept. 1 through Oct. 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Meadow. \nJosie Heck from Yoga Off the Square will lead students through strengthening poses and breath work designed to invigorate the body and mind while resetting the nervous system to a balanced state. \nRegistration is required here*. Community classes are donation-based to help support the Park and public programs. Make your gift online or in-person. \nStudents are encouraged to bring their own mat. Limited mats will be provided on a first-come\, first-serve basis. \n\nIf you will need disability-related accommodations to participate\, please email Olivia Bunting at owarren@illinois.edu. \n\nAbout the Instructor\nJosie Heck began teaching yoga in 2014 after receiving her 200-hour teacher training through Amara Yoga and the Arts and Yoga Alliance. Since that time\, she has expanded her range of classes to better serve the community. While she specializes in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow\, her most popular classes are Beginners Yoga\, Chair Yoga\, Kids classes\, Yin Yoga\, Restorative Yoga and Gentle Flow. \nShe teaches yoga classes through The Farms as well as providing free classes at Monticello Middle School and free breathwork at Monticello High School. She has also led classes at the local hospital and senior assisted facilities.

DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner \nObserve a variety of migrating bird species at our Arboretum Fall Migration Bird Hikes on Tuesdays\, Sept. 22 or Oct. 13 from 9-11 a.m. at the Illinois Arboretum (1800 S. Lincoln Ave.\, Urbana). Meet in the Arboretum Parking Lot (see parking information below). \nJoin Allerton Natural Areas Manger Nate Beccue to explore the Illinois Arboretum as birds begin to move south for the winter. \n$10/person*. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to identify native forest trees of Illinois at Arboretum Tree ID Hikes at the Illinois Arboretum (1800 S. Lincoln Ave.\, Urbana). DESCRIPTION:Experience Level: Beginner (ages 16+) \nLearn a new instrument at Learn Guitar: Get Started the Right Way on Tuesdays\, Sept. 15 through Nov. 17 from 6-7 p.m. in the Studio. \nLeading this course is musician Rex Parvin\, who has a very specific approach to teaching guitar based on having an understanding of how music works and how that understanding applies specifically to the guitar. It is essentially a 3-step process: \n— Learn the notes on the guitar\n— Learn how those notes go together to form chords.\n— Apply and combine steps 1 and 2 to form chords and play songs\, developing your own style and creative expression. \n$200/person*. He learned how to conduct choirs in high school and went to college as a voice major\, getting bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education\, specializing in voice and conducting. \nRex’s musical abilities and passions led to a 30-year career as a full-time music director\, studio musician\, conductor\, and guitar teacher. He is a “people person” who loves to interact with others and see them grow in their abilities and understanding of music\, encouraging them to new levels of excellence. Those who have learned from him have always commented that they learned many new things in ways that were easily understandable and created a hunger to learn even more.
