Beekeeping Class-Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping

According to the USDA, honeybee populations have decreased by more than 50% in the last 60 years and the loss has accelerated in the past year! If you want to help the fight against this alarming epidemic, join us for a class on beekeeping and learn how to produce honey in your own backyard!

Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping will focus on the principles of beekeeping including:

  • the history of beekeeping
  • honeybee biology
  • plant/pollinator relationships
  • essential equipment and requirements
  • By the end of this course, individuals will be able to start beekeeping as a hobby and be able to help experienced beekeepers in the management of hives.

    Class will be taught by a Midwest Master beekeeper and will take place in the library in the mansion. Please park in the main parking lot.


    Price includes a study guide.
    (NOTE: Participants that register after January 22 will get their study guide in the mail after the workshop.)
