In an email to the Campus community on March 11, the University of Illinois shared their proactive policies to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As part of the University, Allerton will be adopting these policies, which includes cancelling or postponing several events.
As of now, a small number of events will remain as scheduled. <UPDATE: As of 3/15, ALL public events have been cancelled until further notice. See the full update here.> You can find the updated event calendar here. We will continue to assess the situation and contact attendees for each event as the status changes. You can find updated information from the University and resources here.
Please be assured that we have implemented additional measures and precautions to create a safe environment for our visitors, and following CDC protocol for community events, including:
–Cleaning our facilities more frequently with recommended disinfecting products.
–Asking employees who feel ill to stay home and consult their healthcare providers.
–Urging all employees and guests to be vigilant about frequent hand washing.
–Requesting that potential visitors stay home if they’re suspicious of being ill.
We remain committed to serving the community in appropriate ways as the situation continues to evolve. Many people are looking for respite from this challenging time, and Allerton’s outdoor spaces remain free and open to the public (8am-sunset). We encourage you to take advantage of the many benefits of nature in safe and responsible ways.
