Prairie Sky Music Festival: About the Bands

“King of Telluride” Sam Bush started playing mandolin when he was 11, and would go on to change the course of bluegrass and roots music as the co-founder of the New Grass Revival. With a suite of Grammys, International Bluegrass Music Association trophies, and an Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award, Bush has expanded the horizons of bluegrass music, and played with a wide range of artists, from Emmylou Harris and Bela Fleck to Lyle Lovett and Garth Brooks.

Fourteen-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas is recognized as the industry’s master of the dobro guitar: elevating, transforming, and reinventing the instrument in numerous ways. With a foundation of bluegrass, The Jerry Douglas Band’s instrumental roots music incorporates elements of blues, folk, jazz, country, rock, and Celtic, appealing to a wide range of music enthusiasts.
